Palestine Institute for Financial & Banking Studies (PIFBS)
Palestine Institute for Financial and Banking studies was founded in 1999; it is a non-profit organization which was encouraged to be established by the Palestinian Monetary Authority with the cooperation of the banking sector in Palestine, to promote the financial and banking culture, and to train, build, and develop the skills of the financial and banking staff in Palestine.
The beginning of the cooperation between GCT and PIFBS was in the year of 2005 and continued for the following years, and hope to continue for the next years.
The cooperation aspects between GCT and PIFBS were in conducting training programs in different areas for the benefit of different Palestinian banks (banks' staff) , and these training programs were as the following:
Security strategies & procedures for facing the threat of armed robbery on banks and financial institutions : conducted in Ramallah 2012 with trainer Mr. Mohammed Samara from Jordan, the main objectives were to familiarize participants how to face the security risks by institutions before and after they occur, identify strategies and mechanisms to address security risks with the least losses, and how to plan for the prevention of their occurrence in the future and benefit from the experiences of others as much as possible.
Financial analysis & administrative decision: carried out in Jordan 2010 with trainer Mr. Moade Shubita from Jordan, the main objectives were to familiarize participants with how to conduct the analysis of financial statements, familiarize them with the importance of financial planning and budget estimates, and to provide them with the scientific methods in making administrative decisions.
Strategic planning and administrative control: implemented in Ramallah 2010 with trainer Dr. Hannah Qaqish from Jordan, it aimed to provide participants with information about the general concepts and detailed strategic planning as a major function in the administrative process, how to build a comprehensive strategic plan which will lead to reach excellent performance for the company or organization, and develop their supervisory skills by providing them with essential information about effective supervisory skills.
Scientific methods to detect fraud and counterfeiting in the banking: conducted in 2010 for three times in Jenin & Ramallah with trainer Mr. Amjad Attiya from Jordan. Its main objectives were to familiarize participants with the meaning of fraud and its methods, and teach them the ways of detection fraud.
Executive Secretariat and the technology of the future: conducted in Jordan & Ramallah 2009 with trainer Dr. Hannah Qaqish from Jordan, the main goals of it were to hone the skills of the participants to the administrative and secretarial work in process of modern office management and follow-up the office business to increase work efficiency, develop of their behavioral skills for the secretarial and prepare them psychologically to do their job duties.
Managing the training process: conducted in Cairo, 2009, it was a part of advertised programs in the GCT central plan. Its main targets were to provide participants with the principles and basic concepts of the training process and how to manage it, identify the methods and tools that are useful for planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the training activities, and refine the skills of those involved administrative, technical and behavioral, to manage the activities effectively.
Futures contract and futures options, other derivatives and its impact on the global financial crisis: conducted in 2009 Ramallah with trainer Mr. Hussein Ghoneim from Egypt, its main objectives were to familiarize participants with the responsibilities of chief financial officer of the project, the objectives of financial management, how to build capital structure and the value of the project, the traditional and the optimum size of the loans, statement of cash flow and its role in determining credit risk, and the importance of the balance sheet, business results and the determinants of reliance on them in the evaluation of project performance.
Leading change: implemented in Ramallah 2009 with trainer Mr. Fathi Yassin from Jordan. The main objective of this program was to develop the leadership skills of the participants by providing them with the scientific information, presentation and discussion of practical experiences to change their leadership styles efficiently and effectively.
Develop the skills of officers phone (Call Centers): 2009 Ramallah , its objectives were to familiarize participants with the structuring of the alternative distribution channels and with operating procedures for those channels, familiarize them with the employees functions and duties , and how to deal with complaints (actual / non-actual) and the customer feedback .
Effective administrative supervision: carried out in 2009 Ramallah, it aimed to develop the supervisory skills of the participants by providing them with essential information for effective supervisory skills, view and discuss the practical experience and supervisory roles, and to develop the attitudes, skills and how it reflects on their performance and their organization's performance efficiently.
Public relations and interaction with the public: implemented in 2009, 2007 Ramallah with trainer Mr. Hisham Hamdieh from Jordan. It aimed to enable participants to understand human behavior, provide them with the skills of listening, sending and persuasion, the scientific methods of dealing with different types of people, and develop their skills and capabilities in preparation of public relations activities and in designing and implementing campaigns.
Cost accounting activity according to (ABC) method: Ramallah 2009, with trainer Mr. Badr Nabih from Egypt. Its main objectives were to familiarize participants with modern methods of accounting and cost management, and how to use the added value in the cost accounting to activate its role in the context of globalization and economic blocs.
Managerial and supervisory skills: conducted in 2099 Ramallah. This program was aimed to identify the modern management concepts, the framework of the administrative process, the basics of administrative thinking, and skills of planning and follow-up management, identify the human personality and the approach of how to deal with other.

Financial and engineering derivatives: implemented in 2008 Ramallah, its main objectives to familiarize participants with the nature of derivatives and financial engineering principles, the forward and futures contracts and the difference between them and how to handle it, and how to use options as a means for coverage and also as a means for speculation.
Excellence in customer service: in Ramallah2008 whit trainer Mr. Munir Habashy from Egypt, the objectives of this program were to recognize the importance of excellence in the service of customers, standards of excellence and means to achieve them, develop the participants' technical skills, provide them with the concepts and basic knowledge needed to build effective relationship with customers, identify the new methods to deal with accredited and maintain them, and the most important tools that study and measure the accredited satisfaction with the services provided.
Negotiation skills: it conducted in Ramallah 2008(February & March) with trainer Mr. Munir habashy from Egypt, its objectives were to identify the concept of negotiation, its properties and the preparation for it, the main mechanisms, qualities and skills for the successful negotiator, and identify the characteristics of the effective negotiator.
Integrated training system on the top performance: Ramallah 2008, its main objectives were to enable participants to understand the successful communication process, provide them with the fundamentals of effective communication, to understand human behavior, the basic principles and concepts in the negotiation, its strategies and tactics.
Proposal writing & fundraising: it conducted in 2008 in Ramallah with trainer Mr. Ayman Al –Mashni and it aimed to teach the participant how to write project proposals and its contents, and to identify concept of fundraising.
The management of liquidity and financial distress: it implemented in Ramallah 2008 with trainer Mr. Hussein Ghoneim from Egypt, its main objectives were to familiarize participants with the foundations of cash management, foundations of planning cash flows and the basis of its preparation.
Criteria for the assessment of stocks, bonds and investment projects: carried out in Nablus in 2008 with trainer Mr. Hussein Ghoneim from Egypt, the main goal was to provide an introduction to show the importance of cash flows in evaluating stocks and bonds, financial markets and institutions in which they operate and the main criteria to evaluate them, and to understand the scientific foundations to study the feasibility of the projects in terms of technical, financial and economic development, provide the participants with skills to identify the economic feasibility of projects through the of economic evaluation methods of the projects.
Management skills for the distinctive manager: conducted in 2008, 2005 in Ramallah with trainer Dr. Hannah Qaqish from Jordan, its main objective was to raise the level of the managerial and supervisory skills of the managers at senior management levels.
Performance appraisal: it conducted in 2008 in Ramallah with trainer Mr. Abdullah Issa from Egypt , its main goals were to give participants the basic knowledge for the performance appraisal of the employees and develop the skills to implement policies and systems that related to them to effectively reflected on their work within the institution, develop the capabilities and skills of the participants in preparation the different models of assessing and identify the key elements of these models, develop their skills to identify standards ,functional dimensions and choosing the best effective means to evaluate performance.
Development of managerial and supervisory skills: 2008 Ramallah , the main objectives were to provide the participants with the concepts of modern management, its dimensions and the administration activities , develop and identify the capacity of participants to recognize the foundation upon which the administrative process, and identify the basics of good administrative process.
The modern management of human resource: 2008 Ramallah, the targets were to provide participants with knowledge of modern management expertise that applied successfully in the management and development of human resource, according to the contemporary science methods, the required behavioral skills and technical resources to manage the human resources effectively.
Processes of sell-term and effective collection: it carried out in Ramallah 2007with trainer Mr. Munir habashy from Egypt, it aimed to determine the scope of cooperation between the policies of the companies which related to the pricing, sales, credit, and collection, and set the bases for the planning of sales on credit, according to market conditions.
Marketing Research: Ramallah 2007, its main objectives were to identify the scientific methods of marketing, research, marketing policies, sales techniques and advertising, and develop the strategic planning skills for marketing.
Principles of marketing via phone: implemented in Nablus 2007 with trainer Mr. Hisham Hamdieh from Jordan, the main goals were to provide participants with the golden rules for the telephone etiquette, the customer service center, the offers etiquette, and the arts of communication & talking.
Preparation of management consultant / Part 1: it conducted in Ramallah 2007 and its main targets were to familiarize participants with the concept and management of job description, and provide them with the necessary skills to prepare the organizational structures, job descriptions and integrated plans.
Preparation of management consultant / Part 2: it aimed to provide participants with information about the general concepts and detailed strategic and administrative planning as a function of the administrative process, and how to build comprehensive strategic and administrative plans as an important element in the process of preparing the managing consultant, it conducted in Ramallah 2007, & in Amman 2006 as a part of GCT central plan.
Management and behavioral skills for the distinctive manager: conducted in Ramallah 2007. The main objective was to provide the participants with modern concepts of management, its dimensions and the main activities of the administration.
Leading Edge – Technologies: conducted with trainer Mr. Essam Ragheb from Egypt in Ramallah 2007, the program objectives were to identify the management of ITS, manage the comprehensive services IT & telephony, design, implementation and support the advanced networks, and the management of data back-up.
Technical Analysis (Criteria for evaluating stocks and bonds): it was implemented with trainer Mr. Hussein Ghoneim from Egypt in Ramallah 2006, the main program objectives was to provide an introduction to show the importance of cash flows in evaluating stocks and bonds, financial markets and institutions in which they operate and the main criteria to evaluate them.
Operations of financial markets and manage the portfolios of securities: Ramallah 2006, the major target was to provide an introducing to the trainees in the financial markets in terms of the structure of financial intermediation institutions and tools for handling and management systems portfolio.
Crisis and stress management: conducted in Ramallah 2005 with trainer Mr. Helmi Sari from Jordan, its objective was to identify the potential crisis and its management tools and modern methods, in order to not affect the achieving of bank's objectives.
Creative motivation methods and managing creativity: 2005 Ramallah, it aimed to develop the skills of participants to plan for change, innovation and development, and to develop their creative and innovative capacities.
